I have some toys and video game electronics that have either become discolored with age or have developed a sticky film on the outside.
I suspect the discoloration is from UV light. It’s on ABS parts of old Nintendos and their peripheral devices (like a Super Scope 6 sensor).
The sticky film, I think, must be from the air. I used to live near the ocean and the film is only on toys and consumer goods that were opened. It seems to only be on PVC parts and not ABS. It’s low tack, sort of like the back of a Post-it Note. I’ve tried Goof Off and it doesn’t remove it at all.
Is there a product or method of removing the sticky film or restoring color that’s common or that anyone has found works?
