During last week’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate presentation, Sakurai explained how the team considered having Xenoblade Chronicles 2‘s protagonist Rex fight alongside Pyra and Mythra but it simply wasn’t possible due to the limitations of the game.
Sakurai has now elaborated on this in his latest Famitsu column, once again explaining how the idea the team had in mind (of two different fighters at once) was ruled out due to technical barriers. In the end, it was decided the fighter would transform into two similar but different characters.
