War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a mobile RPG from Square Enix that launched globally in March 2020 and has achieved over 17 million free downloads. Taking inspiration from the grid-based movement and combat of the Final Fantasy Tactics series, War of the Visions (WOTV FFBE) pitches players into a battle between five nations. From the noble red lion warriors of Leonis to the unparalleled military might of savage Fennes, each nation has a stake in the conflict that threatens to consume the continent of Ardra, part of FFBE’s wider world of Lapis.
From Wednesday November 18 to Tuesday December 15, new heroes will be added to this fight courtesy of a Final Fantasy IV collaboration event. Cecil, Kain, and Rosa arrive in different forms and are obtained via different means. As we break down exactly how they can be recruited let’s also take a minute to understand who they are and what they can do. Heroes of legend they may be, but they share a tangled relationship, indeed.
First, Cecil is the hero of Final Fantasy IV, originally released in 1991 for the SNES/Super Famicom. A Dark Knight who becomes a Paladin, Cecil is brave, loyal, and in love with Rosa. He is the easiest to obtain of the three crossover characters, requiring only that players log-in to WOTV FFBE during the 28-day period from November 18 to December 15, and can be upgraded via special challenge missions appearing during this same timeframe.
Cecil’s willingness to sacrifice himself for his friends manifests itself here with his Devoted Guard ability, bestowing a magic shield upon an ally at a cost to his own hit points. Conversely, his powerful Limit Burst ability is far more aggressively focused and by using this Sacred Rage attack Cecil delivers significant damage that has a chance to stun the enemy unit for a turn. Here’s hoping that Rosa is watching this impressive display.
To have a chance of uniting Cecil with Kain and Rosa during this collaboration event, players should look no further than the Summons system. Both Kain and Rosa are added to the summoning pool as ultra-rare UR units and both have a chance to be pulled during this tie-in. Summons cost Visiore to perform but with a daily log-in bonus it’s easier than usual to obtain this in-game currency, along with additional Gil and EXP Cubes. There are also free special gifts available and a free daily 10x Summon during the event.
If Kain and Rosa are found via the Summons system they make for powerful team members, with equally complicated relationships.
Kain is a Dragoon. He is aloof, was previously under the thrall of sorcerer Golbez and, like Cecil, he is in love with Rosa. Historically, he has kept his feelings mostly to himself but this has caused distance between him and Cecil, whom he previously viewed as a rival but now considers a friend. As we said, it’s complicated!
A prodigious combatant, Kain is able to strike multiple adjacent foes with his Piercing Lance attack and hit several more with his Limit Burst area-of-effect ability, Dragon’s Bane.
Rosa, meanwhile, is a white mage who is deadly with a bow and indispensable to the party for her abilities that boost her allies’ well-being. While Rosa’s Elegant Archer TMR ability raises her attack and magic stats, she can also nullify a host of negative status effects with her Pure Prayer and perform mass-healing using her Limit Burst ability, Miracle of Two Moons, which also restores AP.
In addition to Kain and Rosa, a new Vision Card will also be added to the Summons pool. UR Demon Wall grants a new esper upon its initial summoning and, boasting unique card art, can achieve higher attack stats by having Cecil, Kain, or Rosa equip it.
New characters, Summons, a Vision Card, and daily bonuses sit alongside unique events that see our heroes face off against the imposing Demon Wall and the sinister Golbez himself. All are available for a limited time in this War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius X Final Fantasy IV collaboration event, available free on mobile devices between Wednesday November 18 to Tuesday December 15.
